And... they're on their way! Feather & Belle have played 3 shows in Utah, and they're onto their final Sundance show tonight. So exciting for them! And if I haven't raved about their album enough... please. Do yourself a favour and get a copy! Here are some peepshots of the treats I woodburned and stitched up for their stage.

Also.. some darling friends and I took an absolutely wonderful picnic to the vineyard on Sunday. It was a cool... foggy... and somewhat gloomy day. But we brought a table full of sunshine! Pictures to come.

Feather & Belle.. & Sundance!

Two of my lovely, sweet friends have been working on a fun musical project called Feather & Belle. It's the kind of music you just want playing in your apartment, or in the car, or at work... while shaking your hips and singing along, not even realizing it's been looping for hours. (Obviously I'm guilty of this) Anyhow, one thing led to another for these talented ladies, and next week they'll be playing their FIRST show... at Sundance! As if this isn't exciting enough, they asked me to help work on their set design for the show. Here's a little snippet of my progress from yesterday. Cold Nights

Lace lace lace. I'm obsessed. What's new? For the past few years, I've been into collecting vintage lace appliques and using them for all sorts of things. I threw this band together literally on a whim, and received a handful of compliments from strangers in no time at all. So I've made more. Check your local retailer! (if you live in Nashville. Or just wait for me to put them online, which could take awhile as I'm on month 7 of no internet)

I scored this cute turquoise lantern in the same bundle as the lace, at my favourite antique mall here. Then I walked up and down the stairs taking photos while neighborhood cats brawled loudly below me. They sound like screaming, demonic babies.

Old Films, older fashion

Yesterday I was asked about my fashion design influences. You can get a good idea from skimming thru my blog, but two big things are films from the 50s, and old 20s French fashion. I mean anything French is dapper, elegant, sophisticated, and ridiculously sexy, but not trashy. EVER. As for the films, I have always been a lover of Hepburn, Hitchcock, old Barbara Streisand. (think funny girl, which I just rewatched... appropriately subtitled in french). The extravagant costumes in any of those are to DIE for! I mean, they just knew how to do it right, and how to do it in a timeless fashion.
